Stream Private APN

The Stream APN is simply a private IP network for devices using Stream SIM Cards. It is a physical connection between the Stream infrastructure and our partner operators.

• What advantages does it offer?

  The Stream APN allows much closer management of machine to machine devices.

  As part of the connection process your specific requirements are assessed. This ensures that only services your devices need are available. An advanced firewall enforces traffic policies, ensuring your data can only go where you want it.

  In addition, using the Stream APN ensures that you receive full logging of your devices. Through the Stream Web Portal you have access to reports indicating when devices have attached to the Stream APN. In addition, you can request full firewall logs containing details on all* IP traffic flows.

  Most importantly when you use the Stream APN we can monitor the whole of the data solution. This ensures that any problems can be quickly identified and resolved.

• Does the Stream APN provide Internet Access?

  Yes, if your solution requires it. Normally we configure customers to use either a PPTP or IPSec VPN as this ensures that their traffic is secured and encrypted.

• Does the Stream APN provide Fixed IP addresses?

  Yes. Devices can be assigned a fixed private IP address. This address can then be directly accessed using a VPN. This would allow you to access embedded web servers, or perhaps even management ports.

• How reliable is the Stream APN?

  The Stream APN has an excellent track record. We are currently investing heavily in both disaster recovery sites and total hot failover facilities. This is specifically to ensure that your devices remain contactable.

• How about Capacity Management?

  We carefully control and forecast connections to the APN. This makes it possible for us to upgrade infrastructure before the connections come online.
