After attending an excellent hospitality reception held at the British Consuls home on the Monday evening, which was attended by both Brazilian and British companies, the Broadcast and Cable exhibition in Sao Paolo got into its stride on the Tuesday - with UKTI trade mission members sharing a stand within the main hall area.
A wide range of companies who are involved in pretty much all aspects of broadcasting media and technology had travelled from all areas of South America to participate in this event. Of particular interest was the range of companies using mobile broadcasting equipment. With the progress in the roll out of 3G network footprints, 3G is becoming an increasingly used transmission method for coverage of news events and emergency situations. Until relatively recently, the primary option for fast delivery of video footage has been by satellite. Clearly this position is becoming increasingly challenged, in terms of both speed and cost and now with the ability to bond multiple (usually four or more) 3G SIM connections together, 3G has the capability to provide the capacity required for quality video transmission.
Stream Communication's enterprise grade 3G solution based in the UK, garnered immediate interest from a variety of mobile broadcasting equipment developers, manufacturers and suppliers. Given that our services provide a faster and higher quality upload connection, which is also more resilient than the core carriers themselves are able to provide. After a number of meetings with Brazilian technology companies operating in the mobile broadcasting sector and technology journalists, it is clear that there is no 'enterprise grade' 3G service equivalent to Stream UK services in Brazil. With the advent of the next World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, significant scope exists for any one of the incumbent mobile network carriers to partner with Stream and evolve an enhanced resilient, secure and manageable 3G service ... truly bringing immediate broadcast capability to a higher level.
